The play was a dark comedy, leaning toward comedy. It was very good and the actors had SO many lines to keep up with, except for the lady who never spoke and faux signed everything, or did body moments while she channeled her thoughts to another character. I know - it's confusing, but it was easy to accept these strange things in the universe.
I saw T's mom first, and she gave me a big hug. Then she saw my mom and G and gave them hugs, too. rat wasn't around back then so he was a stranger to them. When T showed up, it was like everything was under the bridge, thankfully. Big hugs to my mom and myself and some chatting. Didn't know how to introduce rat so G called him his nephew, which is the truth. T looks a lot like his deceased father now, has gained some weight so he is not rail-thin and looks great. Hell, we are both almost 50 now - and we look good for our age.
Well, ashcat reminded me of jpqueen and last Sunday night I checked them and found Maki Murakami's latest doujinshi, Capybara, was available. So, after I got confirmation it was in-stock, I purchased it. I also got a Maki Murakami Final Fantasy VII doujinshi, something I did not realise she had drawn. It looks like it will be more of a gag doujin, which will be fun. I hope she does a lot of Tifa. Tifa looks a bit like Mika, though. *laughs*
Also got the final large compilation edition of the original Gravi manga, a Japanese copy of Ex so I don't have to depend on the scans and the other cover copy of Rimgra (the one with Eiri on it and the flat chibi Shu on his chest). You know, I have to have as much of the full collection as possible. Baka me. I still don't have an official Japanese Kumagorou, but the last one offered went for over $200. No thanks!
Finally, I got a Gojyo/Sanzo hard yaoi doujinshi by one of my favorite Saiyuki circles, Largo. Largo draws them male, boney, lanky with angles and edges. I try to keep up with this series but I know I have missed a few of them.
I considered getting another MM doujinshi of what looks like original characters but I decided to wait until next time for that one.

We are going to a play tomorrow evening, partly to celebrate G's birthday, partly because the play is by someone everyone in the family knows. Well, the guy was my first love, also my first exposure to the realities that gay men exist. This was a shocker for an innocent like myself.
I suspect he will still hate me - he went on a militant kick after a while and pretty much told everyone off who was not gay and surrounded himself with only gay people. I saw him about a decade ago when he had an art show up at the school. He wouldn't speak to me, but his parents and brothers were really happy to see me. Go fig.
Yes, we HAVE been watching anime. We have the ImaginAsian channel now so on Tuesdays we catch some then (and sub-titled-YAY!), and the SciFi channel is showing some on Monday nights.
Most of the ones on Tuesday are not too interesting (saw the end of the Count of Monte Cristo), but we came in on about episode 20 of Kyo Kara Maoh!, which we have found enjoyable. Pretty boys, some humour, some swords and magic - good stuff.
So I was watching the vocal cast listing at the end and I thought I recognized a name. I asked rat if he caught who Guenter was. When he told me, I started laughing. I couldn't help it. The seiyuu who had voiced uber-semes Yuki Eiri (Gravitation) and Kagetsuya (Earthian), who voiced wise men like Hatake Kakashi (Naruto), Oriya Mibu (Yami no Matsuei) and Sôma Hatori (Fruits Basket), was now doing a foof-head, using a high voice. Yes, it was Kazuhiko Inoue, the man who could read the back of a cereal packet to me and make me happy.
Oh, last weekend I saw the very first black and white Astro Boy. I really liked it! I can see now what the book I was reading about the anime was talking about. It was interesting seeing the old-style anime again. The new stuff really spoils us. I thought I had taped it but rat has all the VCRs tied up in a way I cannot simply tape things anymore. We went looking for the old black and whites and rat could not find them, except for something about releasing them soon at an outrageous price. I just wanted the first one to show in my art and anime class next Spring.
I got Ouran High School Host Club DVDs from eBay. I haven't had a chance to watch them yet. I suspect the translations are going to be the usual bad bootleg translations but until it gets licensed, at least now I will have a copy of it where I can turn off the sub-titles.
In dub-land on CN, Bleach is still interesting and I still watch Blood +, though rat is no longer interested in it. And yes, even though the dub sucks, we watch Naruto. rat still watches One Piece - I don't find it interesting anymore.
As to manga, I need to budget some money into getting the rest of the translated Yami no Matsuei (I have 11 of the original 12 Japanese manga and four of the translated) and get number nine of Ouran. Still waiting for the next Fruits Basket. I need to get the rest of Saiyuki Reload, too.
Still dealing with headaches, but also got some kind of stomach flu which knocked me out for two more days this week. Really irritating. And the Flonase is not being very effective.
Am waiting for my latest blood pressure med bottle to arrive before I start making appts. The docs get freaked when they take my blood pressure when it is not being managed and I lost my original prescription for the year and had to get another one to mail in. I need to be back to 'normal' before I start going to docs again.
The arthritis flares and receeds periodically and unpredictibly. Whee...
We are talking about a day trip to Austin in late August to go to a doll con. The following weekend will be animefest.
I have been trying to get a bunch of photos out, like akon shots, but I am failing. It is still difficult to sit for long at Last Gasp, where Photoshop is at the moment. Otaku doesn't have the hard drive to handle Photoshop.
I am working on a pattern trace this weekend so I need to go buy supplies after work today, then cook spaghetti sauce. *laugh* Life is a thrill a minute.
You know, it was only just now I figured out that OotP meant Order of the Phoenix. I kept looking at the P and thinking Potter and could not figure out what the O was for. I was thinking Onus of the Potter.
I have been keeping low during the flurry, for reasons friends know and hopefully understand.
On the car front, I got it back last Friday. It refused to fail for them so they told us to pick it up and keep them informed. It has been working fine since.
Looks like I will need to call the various doctors and see what can be done with the headaches again. I was out yesterday, yet again.
Well, I got the car back on Monday night, I drove it Tuesday, it sat on Wednesday because I stayed home with a migrane, and this morning it was doing THE EXACT SAME THING!
While still running, I put it in park, attempted to call rat but he didn't pick up, then put the car back in drive and it was just fine.
So I got ahold of rat and he talked to the shop and after work today we took it back for analysis.
Job sucked today, too, but I was able to tell the HR head about the goings-on and that person was shocked. So I am working with this person to try and get a few things fixed, but first I have to go to the Dean and tell the Dean about everything, too. Whee fucking whee.
